Lessons learned from a social media detox.

This past weekend I took some time off social media. I deleted all apps and fully disconnected. Here is some of the benefits I received:

1. Increased confidence: it’s not so easy to take a “detox” from all social media. I knew it was going to be tough, but boost in self esteem for doing so was worth it.

2. Reduced levels of stress: I didn’t have to worry about making posts, responding to DMs or browsing to see what everyone else was up to. Instead, was able to be fully present with mine.

3. Less distracted and anxiety: again, I wasn’t worried about the notifications, messages etc

4. Improved mindset: any time you do something that sucks or is tough, it helps the brain with the ability in conquering tough shit.

5. Unnecessary to have my phone at all times: I knew I could check my phone periodically to see if I had any important missed calls/texts. But, wasn’t constantly checking it.

6. More time: man you forget how much time you spend on it when you don’t have it. Was definitely an eye opener.

I challenge everyone to just try one day without any social media and see if you experience any of the benefits that I did.
